Heavy fighting erupted north of Hays in Yemen’s Hodeidah province, marking one of the deadliest clashes between Houthi and government-aligned forces since the 2022 truce.
Yemeni officials said more than 50 Houthi fighters and 15 government troops were killed, with dozens more wounded. The clashes began after Houthi forces launched artillery-supported attacks against positions held by the Al-Zaraniq Tihami Brigades near Jabal Dabbas.
Government forces reportedly received reinforcements, repelled the assault and prevented any territorial gains.
Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council ordered heightened military readiness as officials warned that further escalation could undermine the fragile truce and broader peace efforts.
