Minibus Bomb Kills Two, Wounds 13 in Damascus Suburb

A bomb concealed inside a passenger minibus killed at least two people and wounded 13 in Jaramana, a suburb of Damascus, on Thursday night, Syria’s Health Ministry said.

State media said preliminary findings indicated that an explosive device had been planted inside the vehicle. Photographs from the scene showed the minibus torn apart, nearby vehicles damaged and debris scattered across the road. No group had claimed responsibility at the time of reporting.

Jaramana is home to significant Druze and Christian communities and has experienced previous sectarian unrest, including clashes in 2025.

The bombing followed twin improvised explosive device attacks in the same area several weeks earlier, during French President Emmanuel Macron’s visit to Damascus. Those blasts killed one person and injured 36. Syrian authorities later said they dismantled an Islamic State-linked cell suspected of carrying out the attacks.

Damascus and its outskirts continue to face violence despite efforts by Syria’s Islamist-led government to restore security.
